Caitlin is a 16-year-old junior at Bridgewater-Raritan High School in New Jersey. She has suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder for 10 years and panic disorder for a few years inbetween. She first got the idea to start a mental health advocacy site after her psychiatrist asked her what she would do with all the free time treatment would bring. She really had no clue what to do when not obsessing, so she decided to devote her free time to helping people like her fight stigma, which she hates with a passion.
Though Caitlin is fairly book smart, she possesses absolutely no common sense. She is the classic nerd. Her second home is BestBuy, where she is able to talk to the Geek Squad and understand them perfectly. She attended Catholic school for 7 years before switching to public school (not for the freedom of dressing as she pleased, but for the math department. Go figure.) She loves her Roman Catholic faith and cannot imagine life without it; it has really carried her through her darkest times.
Caitlin is also the messiest eater you will ever meet. Her favorite food is asparagus. Her favorite color is green, which is probably why this entire website is green. She rarely goes to bed before 1:00, though she rarely has a reason to stay up that late. She always laughs. And it’s really obnoxiously loud. When she says 'lol,' she is literally laughing out loud. She is pretty unique and loves the chance that treatment has given her to express herself and help others.
While not working on her website, Caitlin can be found reading Woody Allen, talking to friends, taking pictures, fooling around in Photoshop and Illustrator, proofreading for yearbook (yeah, she still likes things to be perfect - it's just a preference now though!), or building houses for Habitat for Humanity. Over the summer, Caitlin interns at the Columbia University TeenScreen Program in New York City. She is currently taking 5 AP courses at her high school and hopes to live to tell about them. She would like to someday become a child and adolescent psychiatrist.
