The pills I hide from my roomate
medication hastily swallowed
or stashed deep in a drawer
What would you think if you
knew about my antidepressants?
Would you still see me as me? or as
a freak, mentally ill.  Labels for
people like me, ascribed by
people out of ignorance.  But I
am not a spice jar.  I resent
such things.  And I am
weary from hiding. 

When you pass through a valley of tears and finally start climbing the other side, feel the sun begin to touch your face as you crest the top and step out onto new ground. 
You laugh and cry, because you never dreamed life could be like this, never believed it - until you felt it for yourself! 
A sweet ripe peach after years of vinegar.

Silence hurts
it envelopes you
so you can't move;
and makes you fear
if you do find the words-
to utter your truth
it will be scorned.

as it stands
menacingly
between you
and loved ones

filling the throat
with concrete
the tongue with
jagged glass...
untill you bleed
from the inside out
and silence is
replaced by sobs
